What I Do

I develop customized management and analytic tools, primarily in the freight transportation sector, using Microsoft Office® and SQL Server software. I specialize in Access and Excel, but also work with Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

I build and maintain web sites.

While I focus on the needs of small businesses and organizations, I also work with large companies to fill particular niches of expertise.

What Makes my Services Different

I believe in going beyond the tasks of simply writing code and building models and tools. My extensive experience as an analyst and manager lets me look at projects from the perspective of the user. I add value by asking questions, suggesting different approaches, researching the subject matter. I would rather question the need for a project than silently accept payment for work I think may not need to be done.

About Me

In 2000 I went into business as an independent software applications developer, economic analyst and web site designer. As an applications developer, I build and maintain customized Microsoft Office tools for highly specialized needs that cannot be met by off-the-shelf software.  As an economic analyst, I build Access and Excel models to analyze freight transportation economics.  As a web site designer, I create sites for a variety of companies and not-for-profit organizations.

Prior to setting out on my own, I worked in the railroad industry for over 20 years, holding a variety of staff and line positions in the finance and planning departments of the U.S. Railway Association, Amtrak and CSX Transportation.  In these capacities I usually had to create my own analytical tools in various computer languages.  This gave me both experience in programming and an appreciation for building user-friendly applications.

I have an MBA (with a 4.0 GPA) from Jacksonville University (Jacksonville, FL), and a B. A. in Economics from Goucher College (Towson, MD).  I graduated with Honors in Major, General Honors and Phi Beta Kappa from Goucher, where I also earned the Wall Street Journal Award for Excellence in Economics.

I love classical music and donate my web skills to support the First Coast Wind Ensemble.  My hobby is training dogs. and I am an instructor at the Jacksonville K-9 Obedience Club as well as President of Iron Dog Schutzhund Club in Ocala, FL.
